Route 30 and connecting corridors are in the preliminary engineering and design phase of the Route 30 Project. The updated Route 30 design primarily focuses on the safety of its drivers as well as improving rush hour traffic management. The current design features a 4 lane highway with a barrier between eastbound and westbound traffic, a bridge over Route 30 that connects Robbins Station Road to Center Highway, and various "jug handles" and traffic signals for easier and safer turns. The implementation will take place in two segments. The first will focus from Malts Lane in North Huntingdon to the Route 48 intersection in North Versailles with construction estimated to begin as early as 2021 and ending as early as 2023. The second segment will focus from 10th Street Extension in Irwin to Malts Lane in North Huntingdon with construction beginning as early as 2023 and ending as early as 2024.
